Kirsten McNeil – Winner of Grantham Outstanding Student Athlete Award

The HKHA is very pleased to announce that Kirsten McNeil, player of KCC and the national squad has been awarded with the Grantham Outstanding Student Athlete Award.

The award indicates the achievements of one player's continual pursuant of self-improvement in all aspects of the sport of field hockey. Kirsten has continued to develop skills in all areas of her game on and off the field, in addition, trying her hand at junior coaching.

On top a very hectic academic year at Heep Yunn School, she managed to train regularly and has represented Hong Kong internationally and her school and club league games locally.

The award itself although presented to Kirsten individually, is really presented to her school, her club, coaches and the hockey association, without their help and support, Kirsten wouldn’t be able to excel.  It is a great honour Kirsten to achieve this award and second major award in consecutively two years.  Kirsten will endeavor to keep playing hard, training hard and guiding her peers on and off the field.

The Grantham Outstanding Student Athlete Awards are newly launched by The Hong Kong Schools Sports Federation as territory-wide sports achievement awards for students of secondary schools aiming to:

1)      Encourage Hong Kong student athletes, representing the Federation, to strive for excellence.

2)      Provide role models and inspiration for students in Hong Kong, in order to encourage sport participation at school level.

3)      Inspire student’s interest in sport and further promote the influence of sport culture within schools, and to the wider community of Hong Kong.

Congratulations to Kirsten McNeil for winning the 2014-15 Grantham Outstanding Student Athlete Award.
