Junior Hockey & Development

The Junior Hockey Promotion Scheme 2013/2014 is now open enrollment.  There are 5 phases in the scheme which covers different hockey skills for beginner, intermediate and advanced levels for students.  Afterwards the students will take challenge of a 9-a-side tournament and a summer workshop.  Capacity is limited and so act now.  Attached herewith the course schedule and application form.

We have pleasure in confirming that the Youth Cup (9-a-side) 2012-2013 will be held from 27th April to 26th May this year. All youth league teams are automatically entered into it.

Besides youth league teams, we also welcome some new teams from clubs or schools to join the Youth Cup this year.

If your teams are interested in joining the Youth Cup (9-a-side) 2012-2013, please complete the attached Registration Form and submit it to the HKHA (evayeung@hockey.org.hk or allentse@hockey.org.hk) by 12noon, 22nd April (Mon).

The Thanks Coach Award 2012-2013 is organized by Hong Kong Hockey Association Promotion & Development Section and supported by the Hongkong Bank Foundation Thanks Coach Scheme. Aim of the award is to recognize the contribution of coaches to the hockey community.  Please click HERE for details.

This year P&D Section will hold a Pre-Level 1 Foundation Coaching Course for those who are interested in enhancing their knowledge for coaching. Participants with adequate attendance and satisfying performance in the course will be qualified to be a Pre-Level 1 Hockey Coach by HKHA.

This year, we have invited Mr. Jamie Dwyer, a FIVE time FIH World Player of the Year, to be our guest speaker and Mr. Arif Ali will be our course conductor.

The Promotion & Development Section is delighted the friendly Hockey with Singapore Anglo Chinese Junior College on 17th, 18th and 19th Mar 2013. We will be hosting a series of game between school side against our boy’s youth teams. Please click here for the game details, we welcome everyone to come down to support the development of youth hockey.

Organized by Hong Kong Hockey Association, the hockey advanced training course for adults will be starting on 20 April 2013.

JHPS 12/13 Phase 4 - 9-a-side Tournament was held on 23rd February, 2013 (Saturday) in King's Park Hockey Ground from 12:30 to 18:30.

A total of 9 teams participated in this tournament. The day's honours went to:

Junior Hockey Promotion Scheme 2012/2013 Phase 4 - 9-a-side Tournament will be held in King's Park Hockey Ground on the coming Saturday (23rd February, 2013).

Fixture

The HKHA P&D Section has great honor in inviting Miss Crista Cullen as a guest coach for the HKHA P&D Hockey Clinic on 19 Nov 2012.  Crista represented Team GB and won a Bronze Medal at the 2012 London Olympics.

The HKHA Promotion and Development section is holding a summer course for all school and youth teams to participate in. The course is a three days program held on Aug (12/8,19/8, 26/8) that allows players to participate in a scenario set similar of a national team player preparing for and during a tournament.

Various on and off the field activities will be held during the three day course. Activity such as fitness testing, specialize skills clinic, positional specific drills will be offered on the field and to give the players a full course experience of a national team member, video analysis session and other team bonding activities will be held during the course as well.

A tournament will be held on the final day to mimic real life tournament of a national team.

P & D Section will organize the Boys’ Youth League (11-a-side) and the Girls’ Youth League (6-a-side) starting late September 2012 to May 2013.  Total no. of rounds will be subject to no. of team submitted.  For details, please kindly refer to the attached Boys' Youth League Rules and Girls’ Youth league Rules.

If your clubs are interested in joining the League, please complete the attached Team Registration Form with Entry Fee: $3,000 for Boys' and $1,500 for Girls' and submit it to the HKHA vai email at allentse@hockey.org.hk on or before 17:00 on Friday 13^th July 2012.  Player Registration Forms or Player re-registration forms must also be submitted on or before 17:00 on Tuesday 31 July, 2012

A brief introduction on field hockey.

This Sunday, 6 May 2012, sees three Hong Kong men's teams crossing over to Macau to play in the Annual Interport hockey matches against our neighbours. The series was revived in 2008 after a lapse of a number of years. Hong Kong holds an overall advantage over Macau, with 3 wins (in 2008, 2010 & 2011) and a draw (2009) at the senior level. The Hong Kong Veterans have been superb winning all 4 encounters, albeit, by close scores. After a defeat in 2008, the Macau juniors came back strongly with a draw in 2009, followed by consecutive wins in the last two years.

The Hong Kong Veterans and the Seniors should again start as favourites. The Hong Kong juniors will largely feature players from the recent victorious schoolboys team, which defeated Macau Schoolboys at King's Park by 3-0. It remains to be seen if they can repeat the feat at the U-21 level.

More than 20 from International Social Service – HK participated at a hockey fun day at King’s Park Hockey Ground on 3/3/2012.  The session lasted for almost 3 hours and was coached by Mr. Khalid Hussain and Mr. George Lam, also assisted by a few voluntary helpers.  Participants had a fruitful morning having learnt about basic knowledge of a hockey game and some stick-and-ball skills for hockey.  The session rounded off with a match in which everyone had a taste of the exciting game.  There is no doubt that it was a fun day.

The Promotion & Development Section is delighted the friendly Hockey and Netball match games with United Kingdom Bloomfield Collegiate School on 27^th, 28^th and 31^st Oct 2011.  We will be hosting a series of game between school side against our girl development teams, school teams and affiliate clubs.  Please refer to the details below regarding game details, we welcome everyone to come down to support the development of youth hockey!

Whilst the winter league might be on a break but it haven't stop schools from UK touring Hong Kong. We, the Promotion & Development section, are delighted to greet a trio of school from UK between July and August. The three school includes: Malvern St. James girls, Broomsgrove and Catherham. The Annual General Meeting of the Hong Kong Hockey Association - Promotion and Development (P&D) Section will be held on 15th June 2011 at 19:00 at King's Park conference room (top floor of administration building).

Congratulations to this year's recipients of the Thanks Coach Award, Lu Peng, Majid Raimi Khan, Rob Wilkinson and Chung Shun Hei, Sky.

The FIH Youth Challenge 2011 Mini Hockey Tournament has been rescheduled to Saturday 11th June 2011 from 1:00am to 12:30 at King's Park Hockey ground. Registration is at 10:30.

This year P&D Section will hold a Level 1 Coaching Course for those who interested in enhancing his knowledge in coaching for beginners.

Participants with adequate attendance and satisfying performance in the course will be qualified to be a Level 1 Hockey Coach by HKHA.  He / She may further his/her study with courses by HKSI under Hong Kong Coach Accreditation Programme (HKCAP), so as to attain qualification under HKCAP.
