HKHAWS 19-20 Circular No. 10 - Female Umpire Percentage for Premier Division to Division 2
Dear Convenors,
Over the past few years the HKHAWS has requested that Premier Division to Division 2 teams umpiring duties be completed by female umpires. As I have mentioned previously, we would like to encourage more female umpires to do more umpiring and use these increased opportunities help them grow and improve the standard of umpiring. However, after noting the difficulties in particular last year for numerous teams, after further discussion the committee has agreed as follows:
Premier Division, Division One and Division Two teams must ensure that at least 65% of their team umpiring duties for league matches must be done using female umpires.
No waivers may be applied for through the HKHAWS either for the season or on a weekly ad hoc basis. Please note once again that the female umpires may be from other teams and clubs.
Failure to meet this requirement may result in penalties being applied at the end of the season (such as point deductions).
Should you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact the HKHAWS at ambrosekwan@hockey.org.hk and jowiewong@hockey.org.hk
