Dear all,
Attached please find the draft amended Article of the Association (AoA) of “Hockey Hong Kong, China” to be considered, and if thought fit, to be passed at the EGM to achieve the following:
• Incorporate the change in name of the HKHA following instructions from SF&OC to all NSAs;
• Incorporate the necessary changes to reflect updates to Hong Kong companies law (in particular the Companies Ordinance) (for example changes to certain legislative references and removal of memoranda of association);
• Incorporate recommendations from LCSD/SF&OC with respect to improved corporate governance (for example the new article on conflicts of interest); and
• Provide greater clarity regarding suspensions and terminations of membership in line with other NSAs.

Dear all,
Notice is hereby given that an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) of the Hong Kong Hockey Association (the Association) will be held on Thursday 20 July 2023 at 7:00 pm at Conference Room, King’s Park Hockey Ground to consider, and if thought fit, to pass the following resolution.
Resolution
To change the name the Association from “The Hong Kong Hockey Association香港曲棍球總會” to “Hockey Hong Kong, China 中國香港曲棍球總會”. As a result of the new name, the following new logo will be adopted.
Background
The Sports Federation and Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China notified on 28 December 2022 that if the Association would continue to represent Hong Kong, China in international sports competitions/ activities, the Association is required to include the words Hong Kong, China (中國香港in Chinese) in the Association’s name in accordance with Article 149 of the Basic Law, which specifies the use of the name Hong Kong, China in dealings with international organizations.
Article 149
“Non-governmental organizations in fields such as education, science, technology, culture, art, sports, the professions, medicine and health, labour, social welfare and social work as well as religious organizations in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region may maintain and develop relations with their counterparts in foreign countries and regions and with re levant international organizations. They may, as required, use the name “Hong Kong, China” in the relevant activities.”
The use of the new name and logo will take effect after the necessary amendment to the Memorandum and Articles of Association, subject to the adoption of the above resolution, and approval by the Registrar of Companies.
A reminder that clubs are only entitled to vote at the EGM if they have competed in the Men’s or Women’s league for at least two years, i.e. 2021/22 and 2022/23 seasons.
The enclosed Attendance Form must be completed and received by the HKHA office no later than 5:00 pm on Thursday, 13 July 2023.
